About

Danita Harris (BMus)

Danita Harris grew up in Bowral in the Southern Highlands NSW, where she began her musical training on violin at age eight. As a young musician, she performed with various ensembles in NSW including the Wollongong Conservatorium BlueScope Youth Orchestra, and the Goulburn Conservatorium Big Band.

Danita received her Bachelor of Music from the University of New South Wales in 2013. She has taught violin and music theory in various Sydney schools for over ten years. During this time, she prepared students for exams (such as AMEB and Music Craft); organised regular student concerts, and prepared her students to participate in the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House.

From 2020, she taught violin at the Riverina Conservatorium of Music in Wagga Wagga NSW for 3 years. She gained more experience at regional schools, managed junior and intermediate ensembles for the Conservatorium and was a mentor for the Riverina Youth Orchestra. She has now relocated to Campbelltown and teaches violin at her private studio. Danita is an active performer at various music festivals and events across NSW, ACT and VIC as a member of The Water Runners. Some recent highlights include Tamworth Country Music Festival, Peak Festival, National Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival.

Her teaching method focuses on the joy of music and adapting her teaching style to the individual goals and interest of each student, whether that be formal music exams, or teaching their favourite songs.
